“The Hidden One,” god of Thebes since the 11th Dynasty, Egyptian sun god and thus bringer of light and equivalent to Lucifer. The final word of prayer, “Amen,” comes from the Egyptian god Amun, after whom several pharaohs (Tutankhamun, Amenhotep) took their names, as a formula intended to confirm what has just been prayed.
There is also a Baal equivalent for Aamon, namely Baal Hammon of Carthage. In Christianity, these deities were demonized, and thus the fire-breathing demon Aamon is considered an assistant of Astoroth. He knows the past and the future and rules 40 legions of demons. He has the form of a human with the head of an owl or wolf and a serpent’s tail.
In Greek legends, Amun was a legendary king.
